Sea of Gáldar
Punta Sardina Lighthouse
Spectacular viewpoint at the foot of the old lighthouse from where you can watch the best sunsets on the island.
The old lighthouse of Sardina del Norte, on the coast of Gáldar, first shone its first light over the Atlantic on 15th February 1891. The current structure, erected on the same site and which replaced the old lookout in 1986, took over the task of guarding the rocky coastline where sometimes the vigorous waves reach almost to the foot of the lighthouse. At its feet sitting on the existing lookout point it would seem that we are far enough away from the rest of the world to feel that we are on another planet.
On days when the tide is low and the sea is calm, the puddles that form give a spectacular view of the place mixed with the contrast of the volcanic rock. The sunsets in the area are special, the place is frequented by photographers to portray the sunsets from this wonderful enclave.
